Every film begins with something.

An image. A person. A question you can’t leave alone.

withIF helps people develop film ideas, prepare funding applications and organise production, with writing, budgeting and planning tools supported by AI guidance.

And slowly, a world begins to form.

Explore the workspace

Keep your film’s direction connected to the work that moves it forward.

Inside the film is the film itself: intentions, research, writing and decisions. Around the film is what helps it happen: time, funding, money, pitching and your wider life. They are two ways of reading the same workspace, not extra menus to learn.

Around the film

Today & Week

The problem

Too much competing work, and the film keeps losing its place in the week.

How withIF helps
  • Priorities choose what matters most today and this week.
  • Week plan organises film tasks and personal commitments around the time you actually have.
  • Creative time reserves blocks for writing and thinking alongside your other commitments.
Example

Two mornings are kept for the treatment. The fund deadline and a family visit fit around them.

What you can do with withIF

Explore the ideas, tools and connections behind withIF, and how they support a film.

Develop the filmWhat am I making, and why?

Let each discovery and choice clarify the film’s story, structure, direction or intended experience. Open See film connections above the Core Film Texts editor or beside Compare with Core Film Texts in Compass. The map shows saved links to Compass, Film Library, Today & Week and Money, then marks routes that still need your review. Select words already in an editor and choose Keep a decision below it when you want to keep the source attached. Add why it matters or a next action only when useful. If All films is selected, the panel asks which film you mean.

Compass

A directing tool for clarifying whose perspective you follow, what you want to explore and how you want to film it. Story asks what we will actually see happen. Why this film makes your hoped for achievement or change visible. Ethics & Care helps you work through responsibilities and boundaries.

Start with an idea or existing footage. Beside key questions, Help with this explains the purpose and offers a concrete example. Keep a direction to return to and reconsider as the film develops.

Core application preview

In Core Film Texts, choose Preview core application to read the current saved drafts as one package. Edit text returns to its original editor. Add selected project details and supporting material when useful, then download the wording shown.

Your film texts carry forward without another writing destination. Earlier selections remain available. Sensitive care summaries require a separate check; application answers and recorded submissions stay separate.

Film Library

Keep research, notes and useful passages close to your writing. Select a passage and bring it into a synopsis, treatment or another text, with a link back to its source.

Research notes keep a clip link, timecode, observation and directing question together. Plan a next step in Today & Week, record what changed and open the note beside Core Film Texts. A saved discovery can become your current Film decision and next action. Keep originals in Drive and bring in only what helps.

Core Film Texts

Develop the texts that clarify your film and become the foundation of your applications: the synopsis, treatment, director’s motivation and other texts. Develop the material in your own voice, with its sources within reach. Help with this offers a concrete way to begin. In Artistic approach, highlight one paragraph, place a saved intention beside it and work with concrete wording prompts. Examples and research are within reach. You can prepare an optional LLM comparison of that passage and intention, with a preview and cost before sending. Preview core application assembles the same saved texts; each Edit text link returns here. Choose a text from the nine visible cards above the editor, just as you choose an area in Compass. The active card says Writing now; the others show where a saved draft is waiting. Related directing notes stay beside the editor. After visiting Compass or Film Library, use Return to my text to resume the same Core Film Texts section and position in this browser.

Choose Check against my Compass for an optional review by withIF’s LLM assistant of a saved text and selected intentions. Quoted passages and guiding questions help you examine what is missing, what seems contradictory and what new direction the writing may reveal. Decide whether to revise the text, rethink an intention or keep a difference worth exploring.

Find a way to make itWhat support does this film need?

Use the thinking you have already done to choose opportunities, prepare applications and make production decisions.

Funding Radar

Explore funds, workshops, labs and residencies in relation to your film’s stage, location and needs.

Radar uses your project profile to suggest relevant opportunities. Source checks bring discoveries, open call updates and approaching deadlines into your Inbox, with reasons for fit and what needs checking. A suggested match is not confirmed eligibility.

Your applications

In Film workspace beside Core Film Texts, a dedicated application writing area bringing together the official call’s questions and word limits, with space for each answer. Choose Use my saved texts to preview relevant saved film texts, such as your synopsis or treatment, and save the ones you choose as starting answers. Existing answers stay intact. Adapt the selected texts to each question and its limits. Saving the first answer starts preparation without a separate setup step. Your application pack also draws on your budget and financing plan from Money where the call requests them. withIF’s written notes explain what to address. Its LLM assistant can comment on clarity, structure and how well your draft answers the question.

Your core texts stay intact while you save separate answers for this application. Review and export your work, then submit through the funder’s own channel.

Money

Answer questions about the kind of film you want to make and its needs, such as filming days, editing time and travel, to get suggested budget lines and quantities organised by production stage. Review and add the lines you need, or import your own budget spreadsheet. Use the Price research tool to find and compare prices for any budget item, such as crew fees, camera hire and editing rates. Review sources and choose estimates. Track financing, expenses and coming payments.

You leave the questions with a draft you can price and refine. Unknown costs stay unpriced until you enter a quote or estimate. Distinguish a funding promise from available cash, so the next production decision rests on figures you understand.

Pitch

withIF guides you through shaping a spoken pitch and supporting materials for the person you are meeting.

For a two pager, choose saved writing and project details, adapt them for the reader, then preview a readable presentation. Written guidance helps explain the story, approach, current stage and specific request.

Make room for the person making itHow does this fit into my life?

A film can take years. Your time, relationships, income and ambitions need attention along the way.

My Next Chapter

A guided planning method informed by academic research into setting and achieving goals, action planning and reviewing progress. Your goal might be winning a film award, buying a home, earning steadier income or spending more time with family and friends. Plan steps you can control: prepare a festival submission, set a savings target or keep an evening free each week. Give them time in Today & Week.

Your goal can take years. Choose what to move forward in the next 90 days, or another period, then review and adapt the next chapter. Your larger goals and earlier work stay with you. Open “What this practice is based on” in My Next Chapter for the studies behind it and how we use them.

Today & Week

Give film tasks, application deadlines and personal steps a realistic place in the time you have.

Choose a priority, protect creative time and open the actual work from your plan. A research task brings you back to its directing question to record a discovery. Adjust what does not fit without losing sight of an external deadline.

One thought, three useful forms
  1. Compass

    Name an intention

“I want to follow the relationship between a mother and daughter, rather than explain a whole community through them.”

A reference for your directing choices.

  2. Core Film Texts

    Let it shape the text

“As her daughter prepares to leave, Elena tries to pass on a way of life that may no longer have a place for her.”

A research moment and its directing question can stay beside the editor. You choose what to insert; nothing rewrites the synopsis automatically.

  3. Application workspace

Build on it for a call

“Development support would give us time to return through the seasons and understand what changes between them.”

The same artistic intention now helps explain what support the film needs.

Start from the work you have
I need to move this film toward a concrete result.

One useful next step

  1. Choose a small goal, such as a useful producer conversation, a treatment review or an access decision. Name a few deliverables; existing writing counts.
  2. Open one result and work in the focused Compass or writing editor. Save & continue moves only after the save succeeds. Use guidance or saved sources when helpful.
  3. Return to Film home, review the result for this purpose and see the agreed deliverables that are ready. A changed source prompts another review. Preview your saved application material or make time for the next session.

Saved work you can use, with honest progress toward your chosen goal.

Can we film, use, share or sign this?

Start with one question

  1. Open your film in the main Film workspace and choose Legal checks & contracts. The shared pilot has the same section and EU downloads. Start beside the saved material, writing or scene when possible. Name the question, intended use and next check; further context is optional.
  2. Choose an EU contract template where useful. Read its purpose, national requirements and cited legislation, then download the editable Word file or complete pack. We recommend review by a lawyer specialising in film and audiovisual production before signing.
  3. Make time in your private week, then return to record the result and its limits. A completed task does not close the question. Changed linked work reopens it. Shared questions and history are visible to all film members; original private records and personal tasks stay private. Costs and delivery links open only when Money is available.

A specific next check, a useful agreement draft where needed, and a review tied to the actual use.

How much work have I put into this film?

A few minutes to review

  1. Choose a film and period. Existing dated task logs appear once; Story development and Writing remain separate and also have a combined total.
  2. Use Add completed work for work not already logged against a task. Add historical estimate for approximate earlier effort. Actual entries use one date; estimates may cover a period.
  3. Open an original task, correct an entry or change its category. Download this period as Word when you need a record. Your team cannot see your private time details.

A traceable record of your effort, with approximate and planned time kept out of actual totals.

We want to develop this film together.

Start alone or with collaborators

  1. The organiser can create an assigned film for up to three participants. Each person needs Site access, signs in separately and accepts their named invitation. Whole-platform filmmakers can start on their own and invite someone later.
  2. For an existing solo film, Invite a collaborator previews the creative material and saved history before moving that work into one continuing shared workspace. Private planning and money remain private. The earlier private creative version is retained for recovery and cannot develop independently. Earlier shared copies are preserved; they are not automatically merged.
  3. Use the shared goal, comments beside saved work and Reviews & actions to divide the next useful work. Can contribute permits writing and comments; Can view permits reading and export. The owner may allow a contributor to invite within the participant limit. Removing that authority invalidates their unaccepted invitations.
  4. The organiser reviews each film’s foundation separately: twelve Compass areas addressed or deliberately open and nine Core Film Texts saved. Stress test is optional. Only deliberate owner approval opens phase 2 for that film. Wider film tools retain the explicit named private-copy handoff. A current goal never opens access automatically.

One film with a shared direction, clear contribution permissions and private personal planning.

I have a text.

One useful session

  1. Paste a paragraph or import one document. The original stays in Film Library; Google Docs can be downloaded as Word or pasted, without claiming automatic sync.
  2. Choose one directing question. Keep the source in view as you explore an intention or uncertainty.
  3. Save and open Core Film Texts. The question and source follow beside your draft; insertion is your choice.

A clearer paragraph grounded in work you already have.

I have an application.

One useful session

  1. Open an existing call or add its title, round and official URL.
  2. Check the conditions and only the project facts this call needs. Unknowns stay visible; preparation can begin without claiming eligibility.
  3. In Write answers, choose Use my saved texts, preview and select the starting texts, then adapt the first answer. The source and limits stay visible.

One useful application answer and a clear view of what still needs checking.

I want to explain what helped or got in the way.

About 2 minutes

  1. Choose Feedback from the place you were working. Choose an overall result explicitly, then describe the action and what helped or failed. You can add expected and actual results. Leave sensitive film details out.
  2. Review the section, release, observation and account identity before sending. Browser and screen size are optional and visible in the review. Close and keep draft lets you resume from Feedback in the same place on this browser; Discard draft removes it.
  3. Send the observation to the owner’s Admin inbox. A failed send stays available to retry or edit; the personal workspace also keeps a local observation when browser saving is available. My feedback keeps the receipt and lets you read the owner’s status and replies or send a follow-up. No email notification is sent; return to My feedback to check updates.

Feedback the owner can act on, with only the content you reviewed shared.

I have a film idea.

One useful session

  1. Begin with a scene or encounter, or choose another question. Help with this offers an example and a small way to start. Existing footage and uncertain ideas are welcome.
  2. Save your thought and develop it in Core Film Texts, with the directing reference beside the editor. You can also write directly.
  3. Keep what became clearer and one next move. Return through your film overview or Today; prepare a mentor packet when you need a reader.

A thought developed into writing, with a next move you can return to.

I need a short presentation of my film.

Start with saved work

  1. Open Help with this to clarify what the reader needs: the film’s story, approach, current stage and your request.
  2. Choose Build from saved work. Preview and add only the texts or facts you need, then edit your two pager. Your original writing stays intact.
  3. Save and choose Preview saved presentation. Shorten if it runs beyond the recipient’s limit. Download printable HTML or editable Word, check any amounts and viewing links, then review the final pages.

A presentation developed from your existing work, ready for your final review.

Does my directing intention come through in the writing?

About 10 minutes

  1. In a shared film, Compare with my Compass shows your current draft beside relevant saved answers for your own review. No AI request is made there. In the personal workspace, save a writing text and the Compass answers you want to compare. Choose Check against my Compass in the writing toolbar, or Compare with Core Film Texts beside a Compass area title. The separate side panel leaves the editor in place.
  2. Choose up to six saved answers. Read the exact selection, any chosen excerpt and the cost before requesting feedback from withIF’s LLM assistant. It currently uses the owner’s existing model allowance.
  3. Read the quoted passages and guiding questions. Choose one next action: revise the writing, revisit an intention, or deliberately keep a difference.

A saved second reading and a next step you choose. A changed text or selected answer marks that comparison for another look; other questions are not assessed.

What will we see happen in my film?

One useful working session

  1. Describe an opening and a few moments. Separate filmed material from an observation, an account or a possibility. Leave the ending open if unknown.
  2. Open Story outline in Core Film Texts. Keep relevant answers beside the draft; Plan with scene cards lets you try an order without changing your text.
  3. Save your outline. Preview the saved outline in your core application, or identify the next research or filming step.

An outline you can develop into a synopsis or treatment, grounded in what you know.

I need to find or return to my film’s direction.

About 10 minutes

  1. Use Compass as a directing space. Choose one question that helps you see the film more clearly today.
  2. Write what matters: a relationship, an image, a choice or an uncertainty. Save it so you can return when other obligations take over.
  3. Carry a useful intention into Core Film Texts. After research, a shoot or an edit, revisit it and decide what still holds and what has changed.

A clearer directing intention to work with and return to as the film develops.

I have material I want to develop.

About 10 minutes

  1. Bring one document or text note into this film. You can keep its original in Drive.
  2. Read it, highlight a passage and choose where to develop it in Core Film Texts.
  3. Save your writing. Use its source link to return and compare; create a collection when several materials belong together.

A useful piece of writing with its source still within reach.

I have something to write.

About 15 minutes

  1. Choose the text you actually need: a synopsis, statement, treatment or another section.
  2. Bring in a relevant passage from your materials or Compass, then shape it in your voice.
  3. Save a useful paragraph. You can return, compare versions or export the writing.

A piece of writing you can keep working with.

I need support for a film.

About 15 minutes

  1. Look at one plausible route. Read why it may fit, what could exclude it and what applying would cost.
  2. Confirm the relevant facts already in Project brief and Money. Add only what this call needs, then review the sourced rules for its exact round.
  3. Start preparation even if the form is still unverified. In Write answers, choose saved Core, Compass, Library or earlier application text; preview, reuse, adapt and save. Confirm the current form before submission.

A reasoned decision and, if you proceed, a saved application answer using work you already have.

There is too much on my plate.

About 5 minutes

  1. Set the time you really have, including days with no available time.
  2. Choose one useful action and name anything it is waiting for.
  3. Open the work from the plan. Log the effort; mark it finished only when you decide it is.

One next action with room to do it.

I need a direction beyond this film.

About 10 minutes

  1. Name something you want for your life or career. It may take years.
  2. Choose a review date (30, 60, 90 days or your own) and one change that could bring it closer.
  3. Give that change one small step. Return to review and adjust; the next volume continues the larger direction.

A link between a larger hope and a step you can take.

I need to understand the money.

About 10 minutes

  1. Choose your question: what the film costs, how it is financed, or what cash is actually available.
  2. Record one known figure with its scope. Leave an unknown price open.
  3. Look at the next commitment or payment and what needs checking before you act.

One clearer financial decision, without pretending every figure is known.

How the work connects
An intention meets the actual writing

Your Compass describes a close relationship, but the synopsis may spend more time explaining its social context.

  1. Choose the comparison

In Core Film Texts, choose Check against my Compass; in Compass, choose Compare with Core Film Texts. Read the short example in the side panel. Select the relevant saved answers and one writing text; a logline does not need to carry everything.

  2. Read both sides

The optional LLM assistant review, currently in the owner pilot, quotes the answers and writing. It can flag missing intentions, unclear connections or possible tensions, and notice a new direction emerging in the text.

  3. Make your own decision

Use one guiding question to decide what needs attention. Return to Compass or Core Film Texts. Record your response; the review does not edit or approve either.

  4. Return as the film develops

Saved comparisons show when the writing or a selected answer has changed. Ask for another reading only when useful; there are no automatic paid reruns.

A closer conversation between intention and expression, with room for the film to change. Quotation checks confirm the words, not the LLM’s interpretation.

A piece of research becomes film writing

You have a useful passage in a transcript, field note or earlier draft.

  1. Film Library

Bring the text in or find a source already saved. Read it and highlight a useful passage.

  2. Core Film Texts

Choose a writing section and add the passage. Develop it in your voice; the original stays intact.

  3. Return to the source

Open the linked source from Core Film Texts. Record a care question beside the material or text if it affects the work.

  4. A focused review

Choose Prepare mentor review at the top of Film Library. Select passages and saved writing, then preview and download a packet. You can filter by a collection if helpful.

One developed piece of film writing, connected to where it came from. You choose what to share; live mentor access is still planned.

A question becomes an application

You know the subject of the film, but its heart still feels difficult to express.

  1. Film Compass

Write what draws you to a person, relationship or scene.

  2. Core Film Texts

Bring the useful thought into a synopsis and develop it in your own words.

  3. Your applications

Check the rules and adapt the material to the question actually being asked.

  4. Today & week

Give the unfinished work time. Return to the answer from the task.

You leave with an application you can review and export. You submit it through the funder’s channel yourself.

A distant goal gets a next step

You want a working life with more dependable income and more time for the people close to you.

  1. A larger goal

Describe the change you want and how you would recognise it.

  2. This planning volume

Choose one nearer outcome: for example, agreeing one recurring collaboration.

  3. A small action

Reserve 20 minutes to list suitable organisations and one person to approach.

  4. Review & another volume

Use what happened to change the route. Carry forward an unfinished outcome by choice.

Your chosen period makes room for action and learning; you can change its review date. Your life goal survives the end of the volume; old steps are not silently copied into a new schedule.

A financing promise becomes a safe next decision

Support may be agreed, but the next bill could arrive before the money does.

  1. Support for the film

Pursue a suitable route. An application is not confirmed finance.

  2. The agreement

Record confirmed support, its conditions and expected payment milestones.

  3. Real cash & timing

Record what actually arrives. Compare coming bills with a delayed-receipt scenario.

  4. The next action

Give the next funding or payment task a realistic place in the week.

You can explain what is confirmed, what is available and what still depends on someone or something else.

What deserves my time now?

Today & week

Turn the work across films and personal goals into a realistic next action, with room for creative work and changing circumstances.

A day or week you can act on, with unfinished work and limits visible.

A first useful step

Set one day’s actual capacity, then open one task from it.

I have 45 minutes today. I can revise one paragraph; I cannot prepare the whole application.

A task you can begin and a realistic place for it.

Choose & make room

Today focusWorkspace feature

Reduce the effort of deciding where to begin.

One suggested planned action with a reason and a route into the work. If none is planned, open an agreed goal result needing work or Film home to choose a useful next move. Empty sections alone do not become obligations.

Week mapWorkspace feature

See the rhythm of work across the week.

A Monday to Sunday forecast and previous/next week navigation.

Shared capacityWorkspace feature

Avoid promising the same time to several projects.

Default weekday capacity, daily overrides and days off; all films and chapter steps share the same time.

Protect creative timeWorkspace feature

Keep creative work from disappearing behind administration.

Creative minutes reserved within total available time.

Planning date & film scopeWorkspace feature

Look ahead or concentrate on one film without losing the wider workload.

An explicit planning date, Use today in your local calendar, and a film scope. Existing dates are never silently rewritten.

Do & adjust

Create a taskWorkspace feature

Turn an intention into a piece of work.

Film, action, creative or admin type, estimate, priority and optional deadline. A task planned from a film connection keeps the decision as its reason so the practical work can return to the creative choice.

Dependencies & waitingWorkspace feature

Make delays understandable.

Dependencies, waiting states and a Move later control that preserves the task, estimates and deadlines while making room.

Open the real workspaceWorkspace feature

Keep planning connected to making something.

A task opens its writing, pitch, application or general task workspace. A task linked to a Film decision keeps the decision visible as the reason for the work. Opening a general task gives keyboard focus to its notes editor, or to its heading when there is no editor. It does not complete the task.

Work log & completionWorkspace feature

Make effort and results visible without assuming they are the same.

Dated task minutes, revised estimates and explicit completion. Recorded work reuses these logs once in your private film effort history. Manual actual work counts toward daily capacity; historical estimates do not.

Capacity & deadline warningsWorkspace feature

Show what does not fit before it becomes a broken promise.

Unallocated work, blocked items and possible deadline risks; a forecast, not a calendar booking.

Return & learn

Completed workWorkspace feature

Give completed effort a visible place.

A separate list of finished tasks and their saved results.

Week reflection & exportWorkspace feature

Learn from the week and carry a useful plan away.

What moved forward, what blocked it, what to change; whole-week Word export.

Recorded work on your filmsWorkspace feature

Understand how much work a film has required without turning hours into an artistic score.

Open Recorded work from Today & Week or Film workspace. See actual hours, Story development and Writing, category and monthly breakdowns, and original task logs. Add outside work, correct entries or categories, and export the selected period as Word. Historical estimates stay separate; undated older task time appears only in the all-time view. Personal time details are not shared with the team. No timer or background activity tracking is used.

What is this film, and what does it need?

Film workspace

Use Compass to clarify directing intentions, then bring selected answers and Film Library material into Core Film Texts to develop a synopsis, treatment, director’s motivation and other texts. The optional Check against my Compass review uses withIF’s LLM assistant to offer feedback and questions about gaps, contradictions and possible new directions. The filmmaker chooses what to revise in Core Film Texts or reconsider in Compass. Project brief gathers shared project details. Your applications sits beside Core Film Texts: reuse your film material to prepare separate answers for each fund, workshop or lab.

A developing body of film material that can be reused thoughtfully in production, pitches and applications.

A first useful step

On your film overview, choose an existing text, an application or a film idea. Work with one question and one draft, then keep your next move.

What must remain for this to still be my film? Save a thought in Compass, develop it in Core Film Texts and keep a useful source within reach.

A piece of writing you can return to, and a clear question for a mentor. You choose whether to share it.

Orient & understand

Film homeWorkspace feature

Reconnect with the actual film before choosing a tool.

Your film, one next useful action and an optional goal. Continue where I stopped returns to the last edited Compass question or Core text acknowledged as saved on this device, separately from goal work and planned next moves. If that place is unavailable, Film home keeps the notice and offers goal work, saved writing or one question instead of reopening itself. The return card offers saved writing from the same film where available. Recovered drafts are kept. Bring existing material, write directly or explore one useful question; the complete tools remain available. Calendars and detailed time stay private. Its return label names the editing place without claiming that an empty answer contains saved writing. Opening a film from Your films lands on that film’s title with focus. Ordinary loading keeps the existing entry route.

Producer BrainWorkspace feature

Understand how creative and practical work connect.

Explore the visual map and open the film behind it: your current question, writing, source, decisions and next move.

Film Compass · a directing toolWorkspace feature

Help you clarify and strengthen the film’s direction, and return to it when deadlines, applications and production obligations become overwhelming. Keep sight of what matters while allowing discoveries to change the film.

Save and revisit intentions across ten creative and practical areas, with a separate Stress test. Begin with one relevant question. Untouched areas stay Not started and optional when Core writing changes. Saved answers or an area deliberately left open can prompt another look when connected writing changes. Whitespace and invisible formatting alone do not count as a saved answer in the Compass, its writing references or Core approval. A deliberate leave-open choice still counts. Original saved text and earlier records remain intact. Empty direction stays optional; approving a Core text still requires your explicit confirmation. Revisit your direction records your own manual check. All areas are visible without horizontal scrolling; completing every question is optional. The editor uses the same answer meaning for its working-text display and word count; the exact stored characters remain available.

Stress test · separate Compass areaWorkspace feature

Challenge an assumption with the same space and tools as other reflections.

Seven optional questions with guidance, saved answers and deliberate reuse in related writing.

Compass → writing handoffWorkspace feature

Keep directing intentions within reach while writing.

Relevant saved Compass answers appear beside the chosen film text. An explicit question handoff stays first for that text; otherwise choose among related saved notes. Insert words only if you choose. Revisit the exact question in Compass, including shared films, and use Return to my text to come back.

Direction Map exportWorkspace feature

Take the film’s thinking into a conversation or another workspace.

Word export of intentions, open questions and reflective prompts.

One useful sessionWorkspace feature

Let a newcomer experience value before learning the whole platform.

Keep or import an existing text, then choose which Core Film Text to open with the original beside it. The original and any existing draft stay separate; no words are copied automatically. Exploring one Compass question is optional. In focused Compass work, the main save action develops the chosen text; another question and finishing are secondary choices. Each continuation waits for save acknowledgement. The existing visit recap also includes acknowledged ordinary Core text changes. It names saved pieces without assessing quality or claiming cloud synchronisation. Unchanged or refused saves add nothing; unavailable session storage does not block saving.

Decisions, feedback & my next moveWorkspace feature

Make returning easier and turn reflection or a mentor reading into action.

Save what became clearer, feedback worth considering and one next move. Earlier decisions and research notes remain available. A changed decision drops an inherited earlier research link; deliberately keeping a research result preserves that connection. Only a genuinely linked unfinished task is offered as the planned step. These notes do not schedule a task or complete a goal.

Focused writing guidanceWorkspace feature

Help a filmmaker begin when a question or writing task feels too broad.

Help with this opens a separate panel beside 13 key Compass questions, the first question session and all nine Core Film Texts sections. Read the purpose, an invented example, a small exercise and where the work can be used next. Closing returns to the same editor and draft. This authored guidance needs no LLM request and does not rewrite or assess your film.

Film connectionsWorkspace feature

Keep a choice from research, filming, writing or feedback, remember why it matters and follow it through.

Open See film connections above Core Film Texts or beside Compare with Core Film Texts in Compass. The visual map starts from the current work, shows saved Compass and source links clearly, and marks Today & Week or Money as routes to review. Select a passage in Core Film Texts, Compass or an application answer, then choose Keep a decision below the editor. A readable source passage is retained with the choice; a working draft is labelled as such and is not saved by this action. Optional reasons and next actions can be added. Plan the next action in Today & Week, then open the map again to see the linked production task. Add a budget consequence from the same decision; the working cost line keeps the decision as its reason and can remain unpriced until you research it in Money. Earlier decisions and their source passages remain in history. The map guides your next review; it does not write a creative choice or change the film for you.

A goal with visible resultsWorkspace feature

Connect small pieces of film work to a purpose the filmmaker chooses.

Choose a current goal and up to twelve deliverables, with three to five suggested. Link actual Compass areas, Core Film Texts or private tasks, or describe a concrete decision. Existing saved drafts count. Review each result as Ready for review or Ready for this purpose. Changed writing or linked sources reopens readiness; earlier goals and review decisions remain. Counts describe these agreed results, not the quality or completion of the film. Phase 2 approval stays separate.

Start alone, invite collaborators laterWorkspace feature

Let a solo director or producer bring someone into the same continuing film.

Choose Invite a collaborator from Film home. Review the complete shared creative scope before continuing an existing private film. Its creative identity and writing continue in one team workspace; the earlier private version is frozen for recovery, with private planning and money retained. Existing independent copies are not silently merged. Film owners can designate a contributor to invite up to the participant limit. Can contribute includes writing, comments and reviews; Can view permits reading and export. Platform access and permission for the assigned film remain separate controls.

Story, care and reusable work

Story questionsWorkspace feature

Move from a topic to what we will see happen.

Five Compass questions about the story, opening, unfolding, possible ending and what exists. Examples distinguish filmed, observed, reported and anticipated material. Unknown endings are valid. Open Story outline directly and return to the specific saved question.

Story outline and scene cardsWorkspace feature

Try how moments and discoveries could unfold in the film.

A visible Core Film Texts choice with a saved draft and relevant Compass notes beside it. Optional scene cards hold your own moments, evidence status and references. Add, reorder and save cards; earlier saved orders remain. Use a chosen card at your cursor deliberately. A saved draft can be compared with chosen Compass answers using the existing optional LLM review. Reused scene cards keep their saved plan revision; later plan changes flag reviewed writing for another look.

What I hope the film achievesWorkspace feature

Connect artistic or other ambitions to the experience of the film.

A visible question in Why this film, sharing the existing Stress test answer. Concrete prompts cover memory, artistic discovery, understanding or a conversation without requiring an impact campaign. Reuse the chosen words in Core Film Texts or Core Application.

Ethics & CareWorkspace feature

Let responsibilities and boundaries influence actual filmmaking choices.

Four starting questions, further optional prompts with explanations and examples, existing care records, and a living ethical frame written by you. Save earlier versions and record checkpoints when filming, relationships, material use, external viewing or release changes. Plan a chosen next conversation in Today & Week. No ethics score or automatic clearance; live specialist introductions remain planned. Beside Story outline, Director’s statement and Access, care and ethics writing, highlight a frame passage and insert your own words. The saved frame revision is retained and later changes reopen review.

Core application previewWorkspace feature

Make earlier work useful when an opportunity opens.

Within Core Film Texts, Preview core application assembles the current saved film texts without keeping another editable copy. Edit text returns to the original editor; drafts can stay exploratory and any text can be left open in the package. Download the wording shown now. Choose project details, financial material and Library passages separately. Earlier text selections remain readable. A public care summary needs an explicit external reader check; if that source changes, review it before including it again. Application answers and recorded submissions remain separate.

Write the film

Core Film TextsWorkspace feature

Find every film text without opening a menu.

Nine visible cards show Logline, Synopsis, Story outline, Treatment and the other core texts. Start anywhere, save drafts and return to the original editor. A prominent Preview core application action assembles the same saved writing into a reusable package. Cards wrap on smaller screens. Previous Writing and Core Application links continue to open the correct work.

Recorded facts beside writingWorkspace feature

Keep the film’s recorded evidence within reach when checking a claim in a draft.

In the Core Film Texts reference panel, open the optional Recorded facts list for this private film. It starts collapsed. Read each saved fact with its confirmed, provisional or disputed status, then choose Open fact to inspect or edit the original record with its heading below the workspace header and focus on that record. A confirmed negative stays confirmed. The list makes no conflict verdict and does not send anything to AI or rewrite the draft. Shared films do not have this private fact panel.

LoglineWorkspace feature

Express the film’s essential movement.

An editable, reusable short description.

SynopsisWorkspace feature

Describe the film a viewer will experience.

A developed synopsis that distinguishes observed material from anticipated developments.

TreatmentWorkspace feature

Explore scenes, structure and form at length.

A generous manuscript draft with writing support.

Director’s statementWorkspace feature

Make the filmmaker’s connection and position understandable.

A reusable statement in the filmmaker’s own voice.

Visual & sound approachWorkspace feature

Translate intention into cinematic choices.

Writing on image, sound, editing and form.

Audience & release strategyWorkspace feature

State who the film is for and how it might reach them.

A written hypothesis for audiences and release, not an operational distribution service.

Production planWorkspace feature

Translate the approach into making the film.

Core Film Texts on stage, access, team, schedule and delivery needs.

Access, care & ethics writingWorkspace feature

Keep responsibility inside the creative plan.

Your own reader suitable account of access, consent, care and ethical choices. Deliberately select what belongs in Core Application; working Ethics & Care answers are excluded from application source suggestions.

Review for reuseWorkspace feature

Avoid treating every saved draft as ready for an application.

Core Film Texts marked Reviewed by me for reuse. This records your own decision, not editorial approval or verified factual accuracy.

Core Film Texts work planWorkspace feature

Give development work time and a destination.

An optional planning dialog starts with nothing selected. Show useful work explicitly linked to the current goal, including saved drafts not yet ready for that purpose, or the required questions of one explicitly chosen preparing application. Saved application answers and linked tasks remain visible. A goal change clears earlier selections; reopening requires a fresh choice. Other gaps sit under Other possible work; they are possibilities, not a completion checklist. Choose only useful work to add as linked tasks, with an editable estimate. Existing linked tasks are reused, and completing a task never marks the writing ready automatically.

Check against my CompassRequires setup

Keep directing intentions visible without interrupting the writing desk.

A small toolbar control opens a separate side panel with a concrete example and selected saved answers. Choose Check saved comparison to read the exact account versions before giving cost consent. The server checks the selected writing and answers again when you send. Feedback is asked to distinguish a Compass question from an answer, name its supporting words and ask whether a difference is deliberate before calling either text wrong. Quotation checks tolerate letter case, spacing and curly or straight quotes; they still reject changed wording and do not establish the interpretation or truth. You choose whether to revise a text, revisit Compass or keep exploring a difference. Closing returns to the same editor. Paid review needs an owner assigned allowance for this private film; shared films keep their manual comparison.

Return to the text and place you leftWorkspace feature

Let a detour into a source or directing question help the writing without losing your place.

Open a recorded fact from the writing reference and return to that same Core text from the fact card. The link opens the recorded fact heading, with the direct return immediately after its title and status as the first action in that card. It keeps the chosen text even if another writing section was remembered meanwhile. Other contextual returns use only a valid section remembered for this film in this browser; missing or damaged memory does not guess a destination. Return to my text in the core application preview opens its editor directly. The editor restores its cursor and internal scroll when the text still matches; changed text starts without a stale selection. Unsaved edits keep the existing leave-or-cancel protection. Cancelling returns focus to the usable opener, including a visible unselected text card, without moving to the pending destination. If the opener disappears, the current workspace heading is the fallback. Successful navigation owns destination focus. Saved writing and source links remain intact. A Compass return reveals the question and first line together when they fit; a short viewport keeps the editor focused and its first line visible. Larger text stays set for this account on this device. Header controls wrap at limited width and scroll with the page in short viewports.

Your applications

Create a call or roundWorkspace feature

Keep changing editions separate.

A programme or specific round with source and dates. Preparation can start before requirements are confirmed; a completely empty call gets private Preparation notes, clearly not a funder question.

Read & capture the callWorkspace feature

Work from the real instructions.

Public page or pasted capture, source excerpts, history and possible requirements to inspect.

Eligibility conditionsWorkspace feature

Make uncertainty visible before spending time.

Structured required conditions and selection preferences, each with official URL, applicable round and review date. Unknown facts, old or incomplete rules stay “needs checking”. Future milestones are distinct from current eligibility.

Exact form questionsWorkspace feature

Avoid answering a generic application instead of the actual one.

Import from a supported official public page or paste questions from a form that requires sign in, then review the captured fields and limits. Editable exact questions, attachments and confirmation state remain visible. Optional questions do not block preparation or become mandatory by accident.

Pursue, archive & restoreWorkspace feature

Keep attention on useful work while preserving history.

Application creation and reversible per-film call archiving; archived application work stops taking planned capacity.

Your applications · Application workspaceWorkspace feature

Make earlier work useful for the next application.

In Film workspace, open Your applications beside Core Film Texts. Questions and limits stay close to the answer editor. Use my saved texts previews relevant named saved film texts for unanswered questions; choose what to reuse as separate starting answers. Existing answers and original writing are preserved. Reused text is not automatically shortened or reviewed. Use saved writing inside one answer to preview, append or explicitly replace a draft, with undo. Saving the first answer starts preparation automatically. Saved drafts are distinguished from text merely available to reuse. Reopening a call remembers the last question in this browser. Budget and financing documents draw on Money. Written question notes and the optional LLM assistant remain available. The source browser also offers current selected Core Application snapshots. Changed dossier selections remain preserved for comparison and are excluded until you choose an updated source.

Document requirementsWorkspace feature

Make missing material concrete.

Required documents, linked current writing, references and readiness checks.

Question/source mappingWorkspace feature

Connect an answer to its basis.

Official instructions and relevant Core writing or source material mapped to the requirement.

Application work planWorkspace feature

See whether the chosen application fits real capacity.

Plan preparation toward the final closing day or your own clearly labelled target. Early fee deadlines remain separate. The call timing line follows the real clock while private capacity follows your chosen planning date. Definite closed calls are not scheduled as current application work. Missing or uncertain timing is visible and cannot be treated as ready for submission.

Preparation reviewWorkspace feature

Separate a complete draft from a deliberate review.

An explicit checklist of required work and personal reviews. Unconfirmed requirements are visible; a preparation draft never becomes submission-ready just because it has text.

Application pack & exportWorkspace feature

Leave with a coherent result the producer can inspect.

A readable application pack, download and copy controls with persistent success or error feedback. A selectable plain text version provides a recovery path. Submission remains through the funder’s channel.

Submission record & archiveWorkspace feature

Preserve what the producer actually says they sent.

Record a submission you made through the funder’s own channel and retain its submitted copy and history. Published guidance records include the round and form version used. An older browser tab that newly records one without those details is refused with Reload withIF to record this submission. Save or copy unsaved drafts and export the workspace before reloading. Ordinary writing and stored submission history remain available. For an imported or recovery copy of earlier submissions, Restore imported submission history keeps the original missing details after explicit confirmation. This does not verify guidance or record a new submission. The platform never submits automatically or confirms funding.

Film Library & Project brief

Film LibraryWorkspace feature

Find and work with material without moving your whole archive.

Search text and notes, filter by type or collection, read generous previews, and open the original location. Imported documents are snapshots; Drive sync and video uploads are not connected.

Document & project intakeWorkspace feature

Bring existing work into the platform.

Document intake and prepared project-file import with a destination and preview; originals preserved.

Working copies & source linksWorkspace feature

Develop material while keeping its original intact.

An unchanged imported original and an editable working copy. New source links distinguish which was used; editing the working copy does not invalidate an original passage. Older links retain conservative change warnings.

Project briefWorkspace feature

See the project as it stands without retyping its details.

A compact introduction, editable opportunity-matching details and live figures from Money. Existing sourced facts stay in an optional review area. Opening a fact from Core Film Texts focuses its heading and gives one direct return immediately after its title and status. Provisional means not yet checked; disputed means competing or challenged versions; confirmed means checked, including a confirmed negative such as a meeting that did not happen. Records do not automatically rewrite your writing.

Source roles in Film LibraryWorkspace feature

Make optional AI context selection accountable.

Choose a source role explicitly. Exclude from AI stays in force when its working copy is edited and also removes its stored writing samples from optional AI context. Choosing another role explicitly replaces exclusion. The current format cannot keep Reference or Historical alongside Excluded. Text already reused in another draft is not removed.

Collections around a questionWorkspace feature

Gather related material without copying it.

Name a collection for a scene, relationship or research question; include materials and open the same collection beside Core Film Texts.

Passages worth keepingWorkspace feature

Separate the original words from what you make of them.

Saved original or working-copy passages with a return path. Only changes to the linked version cause a new review warning; original excerpts remain usable when a working copy changes.

Prepare mentor reviewWorkspace feature

Make it easy to ask for focused, informed feedback.

From the film overview or Film Library, choose saved passages and writing, add a question and read a formatted content preview. Download Word or plain text; a copyable fallback is available. Keep returned feedback in the film’s next-move notes and reopen Core Film Texts. Nothing is sent automatically; live mentor access remains planned.

Work, rights & care

Work & resultsWorkspace feature

Find what has been done and what it produced.

Linked tasks, saved outputs and application history in the film’s context.

Task workspaceWorkspace feature

Keep thinking alongside the work.

Notes, a draft, time logging and deliberate reuse in writing or an application. A quiet status beside the editor’s save button distinguishes unsaved work, a device save and the exact account acknowledgement; problems and conflicts stay visible there. Save work keeps the task open. Completing it is a separate choice.

Legal checks and care in contextWorkspace feature

Know what needs checking before filming, using, sharing or signing.

Open Legal checks & contracts directly in Film workspace or from Film Library. Keep the intended use, evidence, limits, jurisdiction, checker and next review beside saved material, writing, a scene or a work agreement. Plan a private task and return to record the result. Changed linked work reopens review and keeps the earlier evidence. Shared film owners and editors can contribute in Legal checks & contracts; viewers can read. Only deliberately saved shared questions are visible to all members. Private costs and delivery links remain subject to the phase 2 gate.

EU film contract packageWorkspace feature

Prepare the permissions and agreements your production needs.

Available directly in Film workspace under Legal checks & contracts, and in the shared pilot under the same name. Download 15 editable Word templates individually or as a ZIP with a package guide. Adult and minor releases, location, crew, performer, film and concept rights, underlying material, archive, music, composer, coproduction heads, distribution terms, confidentiality and data documents each explain their purpose and legal sources. EU legislation is the starting framework; adapt to the applicable Member State law. Properly adapted, agreed and executed agreement templates can form legally binding contracts. We recommend review by a lawyer specialising in film and audiovisual production before signing. Downloads do not change access, review status or phase 2.

Research that moves the film forward

Research notesWorkspace feature

Keep a useful moment close to the directing question it raises.

Film Library → Research notes keeps a clip or source link, a timecode or page, an observation or possibility, your interpretation and a selected Compass question. Earlier versions stay available.

Explore a question in practiceWorkspace feature

Move from reflection to something you can try, then learn from it.

From Compass, begin a research note and name a conversation, visit, archive search, camera or sound test, or written sketch. Save a next step and plan its time in Today & Week. Open the task to return to the question and record what changed. The planner uses available capacity; it does not book an appointment.

Develop my artistic approachWorkspace feature

Help a reader imagine how you will film and understand why your choices serve this film.

Core Film Texts → Artistic approach → Develop my artistic approach works on the same live draft. Highlight a paragraph, keep one saved Compass intention beside it and consider concrete prompts for broad terms such as intimate or poetic. These are local wording prompts, not an assessment of artistic quality. Examples and research are available when needed. Compare the opening draft with current edits. An optional LLM comparison carries the chosen passage and intention into the existing preview, cost and consent flow; no paid request runs automatically.

Carry a discovery forwardWorkspace feature

Let a completed exploration change the work that follows.

After saving a research discovery, choose Use this discovery in my film connections. Keep the decision and next action with a return to its source. The original notes and texts stay intact.

What life am I moving towards?

My Next Chapter

Offer a guided planning method informed by academic research on goal setting, action planning and reviewing progress. Connect goals such as winning a film award, buying a home, earning steadier income or spending more time with family and friends to actions within your control, support and regular adjustment.

A larger direction, a small set of outcomes for this season, and a next action worth returning to.

A first useful step

Choose one meaningful larger goal and one sign of progress for this season.

I want a steadier working life. In this volume, I want to agree one recurring paid collaboration.

One outcome, one small action and a reason to return.

Find a direction

Overview & six-chapter mapWorkspace feature

Explain the practice before asking someone to write.

A map of six chapters connecting a larger life or career goal to one observable change and one next action. The About IF introduction names concrete goals and explains the research basis. You can return to saved work without completing every reflection first.

My larger goalsWorkspace feature

Keep life ambitions visible beyond one work cycle.

Goals across life, career, livelihood, relationships, learning and wellbeing; near, year or longer horizons.

Chapter 1 · Choose what mattersWorkspace feature

Distinguish a personally meaningful goal from a vague expectation.

A desired change, why it matters and signs of progress.

Chapter 2 · Make room in real lifeWorkspace feature

Plan with actual conditions rather than an ideal week.

Reflection on available time, energy, care and money, with a clear distinction between narrative context and structured monthly figures. Writing a different number in a note does not silently update a saved figure.

Question guidanceWorkspace feature

Make reflection specific enough to use.

Why a question matters, how to begin, an example and how the answer feeds the plan.

Make a path

Flexible planning volumeWorkspace feature

Choose a manageable period for acting towards a longer goal.

Choose 30, 60 or 90 days, or a custom review date. Change it from any My Next Chapter view. Shortening a period asks before removing dates from affected unfinished steps; their writing and completed history stay intact. Nothing closes automatically.

Chapter 3 · Choose this season’s changeWorkspace feature

Focus effort on a few observable outcomes.

Up to three active outcomes with one shared title, reason and success signal, plus optional film and larger-goal links. Edit them in Chapter 3; action and review chapters reuse them. Earlier success wording stays available.

Routes, resources & obstaclesWorkspace feature

Prepare for real constraints and alternatives.

A route, another possible route, required support, an obstacle and a planned response to it.

MilestonesWorkspace feature

Break an outcome into recognisable intermediate changes.

Milestone, evidence, review date and open/waiting/reached/released state.

Chapter 4 · Put a step in my weekWorkspace feature

Make an intention small enough to begin.

The chosen outcome and its progress signal carry into a concrete action, estimated time and optional date; reserved time appears in Today & week. Return to Chapter 3 to edit the outcome without rewriting it here.

RoadmapWorkspace feature

Show why a small task matters.

Larger goal → seasonal outcome → milestone → action, including unlinked items.

Keep going & begin again

Chapter 5 · Learn and adjustWorkspace feature

Respond to evidence and changing conditions.

Review the chosen outcome alongside its recent completed steps and last decision. Continue, change, wait or release; turn the decision into an action. In My notes, link a check in to an outcome and use its saved text to begin the next decision.

Trusted-person check inWorkspace feature

Make support easier to ask for.

Private person/topic/date notes and a selective Word brief; no automatic message is sent.

Progress & rewardsWorkspace feature

Recognise effort without making missed days a punishment.

Completed actions, reached milestones, optional points, book covers, a chosen weekly return rhythm and personal celebrations.

Chapter 6 · Begin the next volumeWorkspace feature

Turn a review into the next period of action.

Choose up to three unfinished outcomes to carry forward, set the next volume’s own review date and begin fresh steps and milestones; or close and pause. The previous volume and larger goals are kept.

History & book exportWorkspace feature

Preserve learning and see change over time.

Past volumes, goal snapshots and Word exports; larger goals continue across volumes.

Research rationaleWorkspace feature

Explain the reasoning behind the practice and its limits.

Under What this practice is based on, read linked academic studies on meaningful goals, goal levels, obstacle planning, monitoring, adjustment and career support, with an explanation of how each informs the method. These practices have been researched; withIF itself has not been evaluated as an intervention. The chapter format and planning period are design choices.

Which support is worth pursuing?

Funding

Find funds, workshops, labs and residencies, compare their conditions with your film, and follow deadlines. Open a selected call in Film workspace → Your applications to prepare the answers.

A clear decision about which opportunity deserves your time, with a direct route into application writing.

A first useful step

Inspect one route and decide whether its current conditions fit.

The programme accepts documentaries, but I still need to check the applicant country, project stage and this year’s rules.

A decision about whether this opportunity deserves your time.

Discover & decide

Programme catalogue / radarWorkspace feature

Reduce the work of deciding which opportunity deserves attention.

Start with four routes for review. Each card shows a next decision and keeps conditions, uncertainty and practical cost accessible. Published closing times use the real clock, independently of Today’s planning date. A date-only deadline stays uncertain near its possible closing window. An applicant-local deadline needs the confirmed time zone of the actual applicant; the browser location is never used. Stale source reviews need checking. When timing is uncertain, keep its specific reason and check the official page before submitting.

Inbox · unread opportunity updatesWorkspace feature

Bring meaningful changes back into view.

Project specific updates and watched deadlines with unread counts. Reviewed matching rules filter discoveries; opted-in raw leads remain clearly unverified. Source changes reopen affected evidence when loaded.

Your trackerWorkspace feature

Keep a producer’s existing opportunity research useful.

Import your own tracker explicitly, then review its private rows, provenance, status and next actions. Exact matching application reconciliation and round/programme decisions remain available. No prepared private tracker is supplied or imported automatically in this isolated test copy.

Public source checksWorkspace feature

Inspect current source material without losing its history.

Bounded manual checks of supported public sources, source versions and meaningful-change records.

Discovered leads & source healthWorkspace feature

Separate a possible lead from a verified call.

Saved discoveries, per-source checks, failures and the last import and background-run dates. A connection alone never counts as fresh monitoring.

Automated collectionRequires setup

Check public sources while the app is closed.

The configured collector gathers public pages on its own schedule. Opening the signed in feed refreshes its saved results with a server cooldown. Recent monitoring is shown only with fresh import and scheduled run evidence; failed refreshes retain earlier discoveries.

Email & WhatsApp digestsRequires setup

Offer optional external updates with explicit consent.

An owner only pilot with separate provider setup, destination verification, consent and delivery history. The owner has now received new opportunity emails on two consecutive Mondays, which verifies repeated weekly email delivery for the owner pilot. This does not prove that every source was checked, that every recommendation fits a film or that invited testers can receive digests.

Radar health and delivery evidenceWorkspace feature

Show what the Radar actually checked, imported, matched and delivered.

Keep source health, last successful checks, imported changes, project matching reasons and email delivery evidence distinct. A delivered digest proves delivery for that recipient and cycle; it does not certify complete source coverage or universal suitability. Paused, stale, failed and unverified states remain visible.

Shared project matching profileWorkspace feature

Reuse what the filmmaker already knows and ask only for relevant missing facts.

Stage, runtime, format, methods and Money totals are reused for confirmation. Nationality, residence, tax residence, company country, co-production and filming locations remain distinct. Choose Compass or confirmed brief passages to support themes and needs. Changes reopen affected confirmations.

Shared reviewed catalogueRequires setup

Review a public round once and preserve its sources and form versions for every filmmaker.

When reviewed publications are enabled, browse them in Funding and add one as a private saved call with original review dates and form references. Published closing times stay available in that saved call, including offline; source age still needs review. Explicit updates preserve writing, personal amendments and submitted copies. Earlier questions remain available separately. Existing date-only saved copies can explicitly add published timing from the verified catalogue. Shared-film adoption, complete portal verification and real-account acceptance remain separate. A recorded copy without round and form publication details says so; current guidance never supplies those details retrospectively.

Review the actual call

Fit, evidence & practical costWorkspace feature

Make every recommendation defensible and uncertainty actionable.

See confirmed reasons, mandatory conditions, unmet restrictions and practical costs. Start by confirming at most two relevant missing facts; the complete assessment remains accessible. A required format is presented as a condition, not itself as a reason for exclusion.

What can this film afford, and when?

Money

Make costs, financing, cash and commitments understandable as separate but connected questions.

A budget and financial picture that makes the next decision and its uncertainty visible.

A first useful step

Start with the question you need to answer today, then add one reliable figure.

We have confirmed support, but it has not arrived. Can the next invoice wait until the first payment milestone?

A clearer distinction between cost, financing, cash and timing.

Understand & cost

Money overview & next practical moveWorkspace feature

Connect the whole-film finances with the work immediately ahead.

Keep the four-part financial overview. Choose a phase to see entered priced costs and unknown lines, then review bills due in 30 days, overdue amounts and undated bills. Open those phase costs or the payment calendar directly. Phase estimates and actual bills are not added together; currencies remain separate.

Budget by phaseWorkspace feature

See what the film is expected to cost.

Editable quantities, units, rates and notes; unknown prices stay unknown.

Guided budget briefWorkspace feature

Begin with the film’s actual needs.

Questions about filming days, editing time, travel and other needs produce suggested cost lines and quantities, organised by production stage. Review and add the lines you want, then enter quotes or estimates; unknown costs stay unpriced. Select this phase and Clear selection help review the draft. Existing guided lines are excluded from suggestions; shared assumptions appear once for review while saved line evidence remains intact.

Decision linked budget consequenceWorkspace feature

Make the practical cost of a directing choice visible while its reason is still clear.

Open a saved film connection, add a working cost such as another research visit, travel, an interpreter or an extra editing day, and send it to Money. The line keeps the decision, its effect and next action as its basis. Leave the rate blank when you need to research the amount. Adding it does not confirm a price, secure finance or authorise spending.

Budget spreadsheet importWorkspace feature

Reuse an existing budget with a review step.

Sheet/phase selection, preview and checked import; not a guarantee every workbook structure is supported. File identity also works in the local development preview; check the mapped lines and totals before accepting an import.

Price research toolWorkspace feature

Help you find and compare rates for a specific budget line.

Choose a cost, define the hiring market and scope, then compare available published references and costs from your earlier projects. Prepare a focused research question; optional assisted research shows its availability and cost before sending. Review sources, units, currency, dates and tax before choosing an estimate.

Price references & estimatesWorkspace feature

Turn research into an explicit producer decision.

Dated quotes, published references and explicitly labelled planning estimates. An estimate can be saved without inventing a supplier or verified quote; price entries never create cash receipts.

Budget & finance exportWorkspace feature

Create a usable attachment.

Exported budget/financing information for inspection and application use.

Finance & record real money

Financing planWorkspace feature

Separate hoped-for support from confirmed support.

Funding sources, status, currency and a visible remaining gap.

Confirm financingWorkspace feature

Record the evidence for a real commitment.

Explicit confirmation and reviewed amounts; receipts are preserved when plans change.

Application finance reviewWorkspace feature

Check that financial claims agree before reuse.

A deliberate review tied to current recorded financing.

Actual receipts & restrictionsWorkspace feature

Know what has arrived and what can be used.

Money received, references, restricted amounts and remaining unrestricted cash.

Bills / payablesWorkspace feature

Keep amounts owed visible before payment.

Recorded bills, dates and unpaid balances.

Payments & expensesWorkspace feature

Connect cash movements to their reason.

Immediate expenses or full/partial payments against a bill; recorded cash and liability balances update together.

Commit, forecast & deliver

Work agreementsWorkspace feature

Understand promised work beyond invoices already received.

Scope, amount/unknown price, counterparty, tax and agreement state; links to bills and deliverables.

Deliverables & approvalsWorkspace feature

Keep the handover visible inside the commitment.

Required outputs and explicit delivery/acceptance status.

Funding milestonesWorkspace feature

Show the conditions and timing of expected receipts.

Payment tranches, conditions, evidence, expected dates and optional delivery links.

Receipt reconciliationWorkspace feature

Prevent a forecast from counting received money again.

Actual receipts allocated to funding milestones; unresolved timing remains visible.

Cash flow forecast & scenariosWorkspace feature

See when the film could run short.

Expected receipts/outflows, minimum/closing balances, receipt-delay scenarios and missing assumptions.

Delivery & release readinessWorkspace feature

Prepare the next handover responsibly.

Checks for specifications, technical QC, accessibility, rights, safety, publicity, release restrictions and acceptance; Word plan exports.

How do I make the film felt?

Pitch

Help a filmmaker turn their intention into a clear invitation for a particular audience, meeting or opportunity.

A saved pitch format that can be rehearsed, revised or exported.

A first useful step

Write who will hear the pitch and what you want the conversation to make possible.

I am meeting a potential co-producer. I need them to feel the film and understand where their involvement could matter.

A clearer invitation before you polish a speech or deck.

Choose the invitation

Pitch intentionsWorkspace feature

Clarify the audience, purpose and ask before polishing words.

A working intention for the pitch.

Pitch speechWorkspace feature

Shape what can be said aloud.

An editable spoken-pitch draft.

Pitch deckWorkspace feature

Structure what an audience sees.

A slide-separated draft with three themes, saved preview and downloadable HTML deck for browser presentation or printing.

Two pagerWorkspace feature

Help a producer, mentor or funder picture the film and understand the requested support.

Focused guidance distinguishes the film story from its topic and helps with the approach, stage and request. Build from saved work previews chosen saved film texts, project details and optional Money figures before adding copies at the cursor, with undo. Originals stay intact. Save the draft, then preview a readable A4 text presentation and download a printable HTML file, or export editable Word. Extra pages remain visible rather than being cut off; check the final page count. Layout images still need a document editor. Money snapshots and reused text do not update automatically when their sources change.

Recorded video pitchWorkspace feature

Plan a recording that communicates clearly.

A script/plan and sharing checks; no recording or video-editing service.

Teaser & selected scenesWorkspace feature

Choose what material can demonstrate the film.

A sample plan and readiness guidance; no video hosting or editing.

Make it usable

Plan pitch workWorkspace feature

Reserve preparation time alongside other work.

Linked tasks in the shared capacity plan.

Saved draft exportWorkspace feature

Take a usable text outside the platform.

Word export of each saved pitch section.

Pitch opportunities & delivery linksWorkspace feature

Connect preparation to a real use.

Routes to pitching opportunities and delivery/release checks.

Build any pitch text from saved workWorkspace feature

Explain the film using the thinking already done.

Select Core Film Texts, the current saved Compass intention, project details or Money summaries for a speech, deck, two pager or sample plan. Saved selections retain source versions and flag later changes. The adapted pitch is never updated automatically.

Rehearse for a real listenerWorkspace feature

Find what is unclear and make a useful, specific request.

In Pitch speech or Recorded video pitch, save and open Rehearse this pitch. Keep the listener, request, actual allowance and clip time. Time the spoken rehearsal, record a discovery and choose a next revision. The timer records duration only.

What helps, and where do people get stuck?

Feedback & recovery

Tell us where the work became easier or harder, and keep a way to recover your saved workspace.

Specific observations and recoverable exports that can guide the next development decisions.

A first useful step

Record the exact point where you hesitated during a real task.

I was writing an application and could not tell which budget figure was current.

A specific observation you can export without sharing your film work.

Start & learn

First-use welcomeWorkspace feature

Give a new tester a safe starting point.

Choice of sample films or a new film inside their own account workspace.

Guided test flowsWorkspace feature

Turn exploration into a small useful trial.

Suggested flows, current-version guidance and recent changes.

Record feedbackWorkspace feature

Capture the exact point of usefulness, confusion or failure.

Choose an explicit Useful, Unclear or Did not work result. Review the actual section, release, attempted action, optional expected and actual results, optional browser and screen size, and account identity before sending to the owner. Unfinished drafts resume on this browser. Both workspaces offer My feedback with submitted receipts, status, owner replies and follow-ups. The personal workspace may also keep its local Test lab copy.

Feedback-only exportWorkspace feature

Let testers choose what they share.

An observations export without the rest of their film workspace.

Worked project & field test reportWorkspace feature

See what the tools produce together, and understand which claims have actually been tested.

The read only worked documentary and original field test evidence, plus changes released in response. The historical report remains intact. A four-request owner mentoring trial found useful factual checks alongside over-interpretation and an unsupported public-research inference; one quotation-rejected answer could not be scored. Revised instructions and diagnostics have not yet been tested with a real model. Account separation, other filmmakers, devices and notification delivery still need their own acceptance.

Visitor view (platform owner)Workspace feature

Review the real interface from a filmmaker’s perspective without opening someone’s private work.

From People & access or Admin, open Visitor view with fictional films in isolated temporary state. Edits and simulated discussions last only while the page stays open. Reloading, browser Back that leaves the page, changing the setup or resetting discards fictional work. Export or copy anything to keep first. Changing the setup or resetting asks before discarding; the browser may also warn when leaving. Services, account access, multi-account delivery and device behaviour require separate real-account checks.

Keep a recovery route

Workspace import / exportWorkspace feature

Move or recover a complete saved workspace deliberately.

Versioned JSON with validation and a recovery copy before replacement. If downloads fail while offline, show and copy recovery text; importing it replaces the active workspace.

Test reset & recovery toolsWorkspace feature

Allow controlled pilot resets without treating data loss as routine.

Explicit reset/restore controls and local backup access; these need careful user testing.

Owner catalogue recoveryWorkspace feature

Keep an exact public catalogue copy available before a publication list is lost.

In owner Admin, download a complete verified catalogue copy or the saved device copy. Import it, inspect revision and fingerprint, then confirm restoration through the curator-only action. The server accepts only the exact originally published list and checks its round files. Private films and publication pointers are unchanged. This is not a database backup; a hosted operator restore drill remains required. An incomplete or damaged import shows a plain complete-copy message without technical schema text.

Owner catalogue identity checkWorkspace feature

Prevent a future programme or several funding categories from being mistaken for one exact round.

In owner Admin, inspect a public round JSON file before publication. Compare its declared identity links with existing Radar routes and download the report. Broad watch routes, recurring deadlines and combined categories stay separate; the server refuses newly introduced unsafe links. Bounded rounds still need official issuer, variant and cycle review. Earlier published links and filmmaker answers are preserved. File inspection stays on the device and neither approves nor publishes guidance.

Owner catalogue review remindersWorkspace feature

Bring source reviews near a final deadline back to the curator’s attention.

In owner Admin, open Catalogue review reminders. Use the complete saved device copy or explicitly check the published catalogue. Rounds with a possible final closing time in the next 21 days and a review older than 14 days need checking. Future or invalid review dates are flagged. Applicant deadlines retain their full possible time window without using the curator’s browser zone. This does not re-check the official source, renew dates, publish, schedule or alert filmmakers.

Private film AI allowancesOwner access

Make paid guidance available to authorised filmmakers within a budget the owner controls.

In owner Admin, choose a signed in participant or your own saved private films. Review the film title and allowance metadata, then explicitly assign, change or pause the film’s total cap. The starting suggestion is $3, including earlier film usage, within the shared $10 pilot ceiling. A film cap neither adds nor reserves money. This control returns no private writing, source material or AI response. A grant does not give film access or enable shared film AI. This isolated template starts without an assigned platform owner. Its own owner account, storage and provider setup must be confirmed before Admin can assign an allowance. Real account, hosted and provider acceptance remain separate.

Can I trust it and feel comfortable working here?

Tools across the workspace

Support authorship, continuity and privacy everywhere, so a filmmaker can concentrate on the work.

Room to write, control over reuse and a clear way to save, return and recover.

A first useful step

Open Start here, choose a writing task, visit the guide and use Back beside Menu.

I want to check a tool without losing the question or text I was developing.

The same film and writing field, with a warning before leaving an unsaved draft.

Write with room

Generous writing canvasWorkspace feature

Make writing the main activity, with useful context nearby.

Use the compact film header and expandable section menu to reach the manuscript sooner. A directing reference stays beside it and can be hidden. On phones it follows the editor. Full-screen focus and high-contrast controls remain available.

Save & draft protectionWorkspace feature

Reduce the chance of losing writing during navigation.

Explicit save, keyboard saving, unsaved change guards and temporary draft recovery. A quiet message beside the save button distinguishes an untouched editor, an unsaved draft, a device save, an acknowledged account save, a shared film save, a conflict or a failed save. The fictional preview says that work is temporary.

Source & Compass insertionWorkspace feature

Reuse material without silently replacing the author’s work.

Choose saved text from this film, see its source, then bring it into Core Film Texts or a funding answer. Original and working-copy links are distinguished, with confirmation before replacing an answer and undo for immediate reuse.

Local writing checksWorkspace feature

Offer low-cost help while preserving voice.

English spelling dictionary plus repetition, spacing and length checks; not a complete grammar review.

Versions & exportsWorkspace feature

Let users revisit or take away saved work.

Writing versions, readable exports and application-pack recovery text. Copy feedback stays visible so a brief toast is not the only sign of success.

Menu, Back & navigation memoryWorkspace feature

Move between useful tools without losing your place.

Menu and a named Back button stay at the top of the personal workspace, shared film workspace and Visitor view. Back returns through the sections you opened. Repeating a direct link reveals the same Core text, Compass question, Library material or fact without adding another Back step. Record and section headings clear the current workspace header; an editor already in view keeps its centred landing. Sidebar navigation and ordinary section menus retain their existing place. Unsaved drafts ask before leaving; cancelling keeps the screen and return history. If a destination disappears while confirmation is open, the draft stays where it was. Shared Compass links retain the exact question. Common forms return keyboard focus to their opener, or a visible workspace heading if it is gone. A form that opens another destination yields focus to that work. Browser and assistive-technology acceptance remain separate.

About IF · interactive guideWorkspace feature

Understand what withIF is for, recognise its six main sections and find a useful place to begin.

About IF opens with the animated introduction from Home: research fragments gather into a film world as you scroll. The layout adapts to the workspace width and phone screens. A highlighted instruction invites you to choose from the same six section buttons as Home. Pause animation and reduced motion preferences keep a still illustration available. Choose a clearly labelled section button, use Previous or Next, or select a map node to see its purpose, tools and example. The Film workspace review is explicitly requested by the user; it never rewrites a text or Compass answer automatically. My Next Chapter comes last and connects longer goals with a chosen planning period, actions and review. The international mentor network is labelled in development. The detailed guide is directly below, with a visible link, map, worked examples and tool reference. The short introduction button returns to the animated opening. Direct links let you skip to the section explorer or detailed guide. Back to my work and existing unsaved draft protection remain available. About IF is not an automatic landing page. Accounts without a user-created film, including an empty workspace, open with the focused Start with your film welcome and its recommendation to explore the guide; returning users arrive at their film home or film list. Scroll cues remain available when more content is below.

Home: inside and around the filmWorkspace feature

Understand how the artistic world of a film connects with the practical conditions around it.

An animated introduction at /home, also available from Home in the sidebar. Research fragments gather into a film world. A highlighted instruction invites exploration. Six clearly labelled section buttons reveal a problem, useful tools and a concrete example, alongside a connected map. All six buttons remain visible without horizontal scrolling. The section explorer leads directly to a closing planet and Start shaping your film. The closing headline invites you to develop the world inside your film and make room for work and life around it. The closing white orbit moves gently and activates clearer white lines and connection points within the planet; Pause animation and reduced motion preferences stop movement while keeping the lines visible. Entry buttons use the existing workspace and access controls. The page contains illustrative material, never saved film writing. Accounts without a user-created film open with Start with your film; returning personal workspace visits open Film home or the film list. Home navigation names the destinations: Today & Week, Your films and About IF · Detailed guide. The detailed guide link skips the short introduction; normal About IF entry still starts with it. The closing headline keeps one sentence per line on desktop and avoids a stranded final word on smaller screens.

Start here, whenever you need itWorkspace feature

Find a useful way back into the work without repeating setup.

Start here stays in the main, shared-film and Visitor sidebars. Revisit the short introduction, choose an existing film and open a Compass question, material work or Funding. Personal films keep their selected identity; shared planning returns to the same shared film. Team viewers keep viewing access, locked sections show previews and unsaved drafts still warn before navigation. Opening Start here does not create a film, reset work or change phase 2. With no selected film, choose or join one through the existing film entrance.

Optional assisted review

Voice guidance & samplesWorkspace feature

Explain what an assistant should preserve.

Writing preferences and selected examples of the filmmaker’s own voice.

Research in own sourcesWorkspace feature

Look for existing answers before commissioning more research.

Search of saved project material with references to original sources.

AI writing / research reviewRequires setup

Offer a second reading with human control over context and changes.

Open the optional How AI helps explanation in an ordinary writing assistant, or read the same explanation in About IF. It describes selected-context feedback and your control over changes; it does not claim learned preferences. In your authorised private film, open LLM assistant from the Core Film Text you are working on. Its writing review starts with that saved text, this film’s recorded facts, project overview and author voice guidance when available. Facts are not matched to the passage; uncheck anything you do not want to send and add other sources only when useful. Choose Check saved project context and read the exact passage, source versions, excerpts and omissions before agreeing to the cost. Unsaved passage text and additional context are labelled author supplied. A changed selected source or access stops sending and asks for another check. Feedback is asked to offer one concrete optional check first, quote supporting words, label its interpretation My reading, and leave deliberate differences and open questions with you. These instructions do not guarantee a grounded or useful answer. Public research sends only the question, without saved project context, and separates supported findings and qualifications from interpretation and unsupported claims. Check its claims against the sources. Paid requests need an owner assigned allowance for this film. A failed quotation check stays incomplete. Its bounded provider text is an owner-only unverified diagnostic, never an approved answer. Recover the existing request before considering another paid request; no retry runs automatically. Download readable review prepares one selected completed answer as Word with its saved judgement and references. Export record (JSON) keeps the machine-readable answer separately. Both filenames identify the film, saved date and request. Diagnostics are not usable review exports. File preparation makes no new AI request and does not guarantee the browser completed the download.

Preview selected project contextRequires setup

Give a second reader the relevant saved work while keeping control of what leaves the film.

An ordinary Core Film Text writing review starts with the current saved text, project overview, recorded facts and author voice guidance when available. No other text replaces a missing saved draft. The facts belong to this film; the platform has not decided which support your passage. The initial source summary names the actual selection. Open Choose other sources to uncheck anything or add other writing, Compass answers, Library material, writing samples or Money. Goals, the current decision and research notes also need explicit selection. Load reviewed funding guidance offers published calls already added to this film, with none selected automatically. Public research and an isolated passage have separate context choices. Known excluded material and its linked context are filtered. Choose up to 32 sources; long sources use excerpts within the 24,000 character context limit. The exact preview lists omissions so you can check confidential details before sending. This selection is for one request, not a new memory store. Funding checks eligibility and deadlines; AI cannot approve them.

Application feedback with reviewed guidanceRequires setup

Help a reader assess your answer against the call you are actually preparing.

With Funding access in an authorised private film, choose Load reviewed funding guidance in the existing LLM assistant source picker. Only published calls already added to this private film are offered, and none is selected automatically. Loading guidance and checking the exact preview are free. Choose a relevant round, then read its guidance beside your passage before giving cost consent. The server checks that your selection matches the current reviewed published version. Rule and form review gaps and uncertain deadlines remain visible. This film’s eligibility still depends on confirmed project facts; publication does not establish eligibility or a complete official form. Long guidance may be excerpted or omitted within the same source and context limits. An AI reading can help develop an answer, but cannot override Funding’s checks, submit it or approve it. Existing film allowances apply; shared films and their working copies stay outside this pilot.

AI allowance & usefulness reviewRequires setup

Keep cost and benefit visible.

Checking a preview makes no paid AI call, even without a film allowance. The owner assigns or pauses an allowance separately for each saved private film; none is granted automatically. Sending needs explicit cost consent and enough allowance both for that film and under the shared $10 pilot ceiling. Recover a saved server result instead of paying to repeat an uncertain request. Shared films and their private working copies remain outside this saved context pilot. Core tools work without a paid AI subscription.

Privacy & continuity

Account separationWorkspace feature

Give each tester their own work area.

Account scoped browser drafts and private cloud workspaces remain separate. Shared film membership is granted separately; platform ownership does not grant access to another account's or team's film. In a private workspace, Sign out is beside Privacy & terms in the existing menu footer. Signing out keeps browser copies; it does not erase them. Keep unsaved editor writing and unconfirmed work before leaving. A workspace export contains saved work, not unsaved text. During a temporary access service failure, the last verified private view stays available; initial unknown access and a confirmed restriction stay closed. Current account reads and saves still use server permissions. A restored session triggers a fresh access check. Sign in again keeps the current private film view and writing tab as the return destination; recoverable editor drafts still depend on this browser retaining its copies. Open film workspace focuses the chosen film heading. Choosing the Film home tab keeps focus in the tab list. The separate shared-film interface retains its existing controls. Automated local checks are not real-account or browser acceptance.

Cloud save & conflictsWorkspace feature

Keep work available across sessions without silently merging conflicting copies.

The status distinguishes device work from exact account confirmation. Once the exact request is confirmed, an earlier waiting-copy failure notice clears if no unresolved waiting bytes remain. Any retained or unchecked waiting bytes keep an honest recovery warning. A genuine expired Site session pauses account saving and leaves open writing mounted. Use Sign in again in the notice after keeping your work; same-account confirmation precedes retry of an exact uncertain request. For a private film, return follows the current text, task or Compass question you focused or edited. Restoring unsaved writing still depends on the browser having kept its copy. A forbidden check stays a permission problem rather than claiming the session ended. Definite conflict and outdated-submission refusals are kept as refusals through reload and are not replayed as uncertain saves. A damaged or unsupported waiting copy can be downloaded, then deliberately kept aside on this device after confirming the same account. Its exact bytes must be verified before releasing the active record; a failed storage check keeps the original. Compare browser and account copies before continuing; no automatic merge, unchecked send or paid retry. Kept-aside files remain downloadable and are not removed automatically. Unavailable device storage still needs manual copies. Account saves, recovery and actual browser authentication require their own acceptance evidence. Keeping a copy aside does not send it again; an earlier save may already have reached the account service. Keep your writing and downloaded copies, then reload every open withIF tab before using the new recovery choices. Ordinary waiting saves stay compatible with older supported tabs; refused saves need the updated recovery tools.

Recovery historyWorkspace feature

Give mistakes and interrupted work a route back.

Up to 20 recent cloud saves, counted by save rather than by day, plus separate device replacement copies and manual recovery downloads. Offline or conflicting work also has a copyable saved workspace text fallback; copy or save unsaved drafts first. Activity history files are separate and cannot restore a film.

Loading & failure recoveryWorkspace feature

Keep a failed load from silently resetting the workspace.

Visible errors, retry paths and preservation of recoverable drafts/data. If the sign in check fails, use the Sign in to withIF button with the account invited to withIF. Network failures offer a retry; saved work is loaded only after the account is checked.

Invitation accessOwner access

Let selected people try the app without access to the owner’s film workspace.

The owner opens People & access at /access, creates an assigned film with up to three participant emails, then grants those participants access to withIF. Copy and send each person their own film invitation link. They sign in with that email and explicitly accept the shared workspace. The organiser can review that shared film; individual planning, time details and unrelated account records stay private. No invitation email is sent automatically.

Shared film teams · common Film workspaceWorkspace feature

Let directors, producers and trusted collaborators develop one film together using their own accounts.

Open Film projects at /films. The earlier /pilot entrance opens the same workspace. Film home, focused sessions, Compass, Core Film Texts, Story cards, Film Library, Ethics & Care, Legal checks & contracts and Core Application reuse the main platform tools. Shared goals connect saved deliverables to a chosen purpose; review and readiness are human decisions. Contributors can write, comment and review; viewers can read and export. Shared saves wait for acknowledgment, failed saves retain drafts and a changed field requires comparison. Sources, versions and care checks stay attached. Invite a collaborator from a personal Film home to review the complete creative scope and deliberately continue that same film in one shared workspace. Its earlier private creative version is frozen for recovery; personal planning and financial records stay private. Older independent shared copies remain separate. Document intake, research workflows, mentor packets and paid AI comparisons still use the personal workspace. No invitation or notification is sent automatically.

People, assigned films and individual progressionWorkspace feature

Let testers explore the whole platform while focusing their first sessions on the film and the time to develop it.

People & access is a prominent owner link in the main workspace and pilot. Film projects is the starting view: add a film title and up to three participants, inspect saved foundation progress and approve or pause phase 2 for one film at a time. The same three accounts share its creative workspace. Cohort and selected-section accounts cannot create or develop additional films; assigned membership is enforced on the server. Existing material stays recoverable. A ready foundation has twelve Compass areas addressed or deliberately open and nine saved Core Film Texts; Stress test is optional. Completion is evidence for human review, not an automatic judgement of readiness. Approving one film grants its current team access without approving their other films. Each person deliberately creates a named private copy for wider tools; creative team work stays shared. Personal chapter planning and opportunity browsing become available after at least one film is approved, while film-specific work stays limited to authorised films. People offers only Whole platform or Selected sections, with a film-project setup preset. Whole platform includes read-only legal drafts without Admin powers. Prepared email permissions bind once on authenticated sign-in; later sign-ins cannot restore revoked permissions. No payment or subscription system is active. The progress view includes invitations not accepted, expired links and joined people with no recorded contribution. Per film, it shows missing Compass areas and Core Film Texts plus the latest shared film save. Each participant has their latest saved edit, new comment, reply or review/action event. Filters find films with no foundation or people needing a check-in (not joined, no recorded contribution or no contribution for seven days). Review and copy an editable encouragement draft for manual delivery. These indicators do not measure effort or reveal private calendars, detailed time logs or other films.

Comments inside sections & shared actionsWorkspace feature

Turn a teammate’s reading into a clear question, decision or assigned next move.

Open Comments beside the current Compass group, Core Film Text, Story cards, Library source, ethical frame, Film decisions or Core Application. Select a saved passage and choose Comment on selected passage, or leave a general section comment. A subject is optional. Replies, assignments and status changes stay beside the work and also appear in Reviews & actions. Earlier quoted revisions remain attached; changed fields are flagged. Comments and reply drafts recover on this account and browser. Unsaved film passages must be saved before they can be attached. All film members can read; owners and editors can contribute. No email is sent.

Resume shared work & save separate fieldsWorkspace feature

Return to the actual passage and let teammates work on different texts without unnecessary conflict.

The last film, tab, Compass group, text or Library source resumes on this account and browser. Explicit field links take priority. Independent Core, Compass and Library draft saves preserve other fields. A changed selected reference or the same field requires another look; other shared actions still use whole-film conflict protection. Earlier film decisions remain readable.

Privacy, terms and cohort confidentialityWorkspace feature

Understand how the platform handles your work, keep your agreement copy and exercise your data rights.

Open Privacy, terms & confidentiality from the sidebar or footer in the main platform and pilot. Read current information, export your own account records (including your participation mode), submit a scoped privacy request and see the owner response. Admin holds a grounded operator review and draft terms, reciprocal cohort NDA, privacy notice and conditional film-data processing terms. After the operator confirms actual arrangements and activates an immutable version, each non-owner account separately accepts it before protected workspace APIs can be used. Account export and privacy requests remain available without NDA acceptance. Activation is pending verified operator/contact, provider, role, retention and other review facts; no end-to-end encryption or complete legal compliance is claimed. Whole platform accounts can read and download draft documents and inspect operator arrangements, readiness evidence and active documents at /legal/review, without Admin access. This review route does not require agreement acceptance, but the protected working tools retain their normal agreement requirements. Changing an account to Selected sections or the cohort setup blocks further draft retrieval. Already downloaded copies cannot be recalled. Entry and agreement checks distinguish sign-in from permission and service problems. Unreadable replies keep protected entry closed and show plain feedback; local checks do not prove hosted agreement or session behaviour.

Full activity historyWorkspace feature

Keep the activity record without preventing new work.

Recent activity stays in the workspace up to 10,000 entries. Older entries are kept separately before leaving that list. Browse and download account or shared film parts from the existing save area. A confirmed account archive lets the workspace save even if an optional device copy is unavailable. Unreadable waiting bytes are kept apart, shown with a notice and downloadable without blocking valid parts. A missing or damaged stored part can be repaired from a verified waiting copy of the same content. Storage or request limits keep waiting parts and show an explanation instead of deleting history. Activity records do not prove authorship or unchanged evidence, and they cannot restore a film. Restores or imports can repeat an entry in more than one part.

Invitations & the mentoring direction

Owner invitations and desktop reviewOwner access

Let the owner prepare a useful first visit and manage invitations without a conversation with an assistant.

People & access at /access is linked from the top bar, sidebar and Admin. Use Film projects to create a film and up to three email-bound participant invitations, follow progress and approve phase 2 per film. The organiser can open the assigned shared films. Use People for Whole platform access, including counsel and read-only legal documents, or Selected sections. The owner separately grants platform access. Permissions, invitation links and check-in drafts do not send emails. Visitor view rehearses real workspace components with isolated fictional material; it cannot read or change real films. Admin records the desktop checklist. Legal activation and the developer feedback inbox remain owner-only. Other users see Feedback & recovery, their own receipts and account recovery tools. Admin also keeps a dated change log from 4 October, including superseded access rules and the Film Mentorship Network preview. The desktop checklist has a visible pending browser/account acceptance section for the 4 to 6 October updates: browser setup, separate accounts, desktop/phone, collaboration and the feedback round trip. Copy checklist includes these steps and the official setup link. These checks remain pending until actual acceptance.

Tester feedback inboxOwner access

Receive concrete feedback from invited testers without opening their film work.

Testers review the exact observation, reproduction details and identity before sending. My feedback retains their receipt, submitted reports, current status, related release and a private thread with the platform owner. Follow-up drafts recover on this browser. Owner Admin offers search, status and result filters, unread filtering, pagination, replies, read state, triage and an export of all matching report records. The export excludes conversation threads. A tester follow-up marks the report unread. No film content is attached and no email notification is sent. People deliberately check My feedback for updates. Automated account and handler checks pass; real signed-in and phone acceptance remains open.

Explore the Film Mentorship Network previewWorkspace feature

Let invited users try the planned profile and booking experience before the real service is available.

Open /mentorship from the sidebar, Home or About IF. The approved name and subtitle, In development label, three fictional mentor profiles and quiet line silhouettes remain. A shorter introduction puts profiles before the detailed project explanation. The visible heading asks How would withIF recommendations use my project? A brief explanation leads into the reason on each card. Anika’s development example connects an observational documentary across two countries, treatment feedback before approaching co-producers, and the mentor’s relevant experience. Choose Development, Production, Post-production or Distribution & impact. Post-production prioritises rough-cut feedback, with separate reasons about editing, finishing and release preparation; the card’s suggested session opens selected in the profile. Expand the example project and sharing choices below the cards for saved-work sources, concrete work and useful results. Profiles show biographies, example availability and one first-session price covering preparation plus the meeting. Choose independent read access to all or selected Compass areas and answers and Core Film Texts and passages, and inspect the exact mentor view. Access starts empty. Separately choose preparation priorities within the offer’s allowance; revoking access removes that priority. Reading limits, a 48-hour material deadline and an agreed revised scope and price remain clear. The preview reads no real film material and makes no booking, payment, contact or permission grant. Visitor navigation and returning to the same fictional film remain intact; no completed film foundation is required.

Film Mentorship NetworkPlanned

Find experienced guidance relevant to this film, its intentions and the decision the filmmaker is facing.

Planned: private, paid consultancy and mentorship with experienced international professionals across development, production, finishing, distribution, publicity, impact and the film’s further life. Directors, producers, writers, DoPs, editors, impact producers, publishers, PR and other specialists could help develop concrete work. Saved project information would inform recommendations with reasons, without requiring a completed film foundation or repeating Compass answers. The filmmaker would grant read access to all or selected Compass areas, answers, Core Film Texts and passages and preview the mentor’s exact view. Preparation priorities would be agreed separately from broader access. The first paid session would include the mentor’s preparatory reading or viewing and online meeting in one total price, with clear scope, allowance and material deadline. More work would require an agreed revised scope and total before booking. Actual recommendations, mentor accounts, permissions, preparation acceptance, booking and payment are not active. The interactive /mentorship mockup demonstrates these choices with fictional content. Personal Film Library’s existing mentor packet remains a separate preparation tool and grants no account access.

Mentor review packet and responseWorkspace feature

Turn an experienced reader's response into a deliberate next decision inside the film.

From Film Library, choose saved passages and Core Film Texts sections, state the question you want help with, preview the exact packet and save it with the film. Mark it shared when you send it yourself. When a response arrives, paste it into the saved review, then add it to the current film connection so it can inform Core Film Texts, a production task or a budget consequence. The reviewer receives no account or project access through this workflow.

Visual review roomPlanned

Let a mentor discuss scenes and visual decisions alongside written development work.

Planned after text review: selected viewing links or materials, version labels and time-referenced notes. External video services retain their own access rules; removing IF access cannot revoke a separately shared video link. Hosted uploads and video processing are not available.
